Prof George J. Netto, M.D., is Professor and the Chair of Pathology at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He received his medical degree from Damascus University before residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Baylor University and fellowships in surgical pathology at the Washington University School of Medicine, and in urologic pathology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. In 2005 he joined the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine faculty and served as Director of Surgical Pathology. His research has examined TMPRSS2-ERG fusion and PTEN loss as prognostic biomarkers in prostate adenocarcinoma, as well as TERT gene promoter mutation in muscle-invasive bladder cancer. He is editor in chief for Modern Pathology and is on the editorial boards of numerous other journals. He is a member of the WHO Blue Book Editorial Board for the upcoming Urinary and Male Genital Tumours volume. He has authored or co-authored more than 375 articles and chapters.<\/p>\n
