Present:<\/strong> Apologies:<\/strong> Necrology:<\/strong> Minutes:<\/strong> President’s report: The President thanked the members and officers of the Society for their support during the past year and summarized the activities of the Society. The proceedings from the 2009 Consensus Conference on Handling and Staging of Radical Prostatectomy Specimens have finally been published in Modern Pathology. The successful GU sessions at the ESP meeting in Helsinki 2011 were largely organized by ISUP members. The website of Society has been re-designed. Earlier today ISUP organized a Consensus Conference on Adult Renal Tumors, attended by 130 members and the President thanked them for their contributions. Drs. Cristina Magi-Galluzzi and Kiril Trpkov successfully organized and ran the Companion meeting. The President thanked Dr. Kenneth Iczkowski for reviewing the 2012 GU trainee abstracts and selecting the three winners who were presented with certificates this evening. Dr. Samson Fine was thanked for chairing the Fellowship Stipend Award Committee. Abstract Awards were given to Whitney M. Green (Johns Hopkins, Baltimore), Vikas Mehta (Loyola University, Chicago) and Haijun Zhou (Methodist Hospital, Houston) and Stipends to Diego Segala (Verona), Dominique Trudel (Toronto) and Oleksandr Kryvenko (Detroit).<\/p>\n Secretary’s report: The Society continues to grow. Since last AGM the number of senior members has increased further and ISUP now has 474 senior members and 95 resident members, i.e. a total of 569 members. The ISUP reception earlier this day was unusually well attended. Members were encouraged to update their email addresses with the Secretary or Treasurer so they can receive our communication.<\/p>\n Treasurer’s report: The Treasurer told that the economy of the Society is in balance but reminded the members to pay their dues.<\/p>\n General business: Dr. David Bostwick asked that ISUP should issue a statement that it is inappropriate that reimbursement to pathology laboratories in the United States is now based on a single stain on a single slide per case. \nThe President called the meeting to order at 9:50 p.m.<\/p>\n
\nApologies for unavoidable absence were received from the following members: Maurizio Colecchia, Chris Foster, Eva Compérat, Philippe Camparo and Sheldon Bastacky.<\/p>\n
\nThe President asked the members to observe a moment of silence for Dr. William Gardner who recently passed away.<\/p>\n
\nThe minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting held on February 26, 2011 in San Antonio, TX have previously been distributed to all members by the Secretary. These were taken as read and approved. However, Dr. David Bostwick expressed dissatisfaction with the recommendation that the term ISUP 2005 modified Gleason score should not be used in routine reports but rather be restricted for study protocols. As this issue has already been discussed in the AGM of 2010 and 2011, no action was taken.<\/p>\n
