Dear ISUP Members,
It is a privilege and honor to begin service as the President of the International Society of Urological Pathology. This is an exciting time for the ISUP. The Society continues to grow, and there are now 589 members, including 98 resident members, from 45 countries. The ISUP has a truly international presence, with regular educational sessions at meetings around the world. Here we will review the 21st Annual meeting just held in Baltimore, Maryland and will also highlight some of the upcoming meetings for this next year.
The 21st anniversary meeting of the International Society of Urological Pathology was held on March 2nd and 3rd, 2013 in Baltimore, United States at the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology meeting. There were three major ISUP events and all were highly successful.
The first event was the Saturday evening ISUP Companion Meeting, which drew a large audience, as it always does. There were three outstanding lectures:

The final excellent component of the Saturday evening ISUP Companion meeting was a novel session on Controversies and Hot Topics in Urological Pathology: A Dialogue with the Experts. Mahul Amin, Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, California, and Jonathan Epstein, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland presented their personal approaches to difficult contemporary questions that arise in the practice of urologic pathology.
The second event was the 2013 International Society of Urologic Pathology Conference on Best Practices : Recommendations in the Application of Immunohistochemistry in Diagnostic Urologic Pathology. This session was led by Dr. Mahul Amin and Dr. Jonathan Epstein, who spoke on immunohistochemistry of urinary bladder and prostate neoplasia, respectively. Dr. Victor Reuter and Dr. Tom Ulbright spoke on immunohistochemistry of renal and testicular neoplasia, respectively. Much work happened before the meeting, with teams of ISUP experts, led by the four speakers, providing evidence-based recommendations for presentation at the meeting. The third event was the 15th Annual Grawitz dinner, which was well-attended and enjoyed by all.
Upcoming educational sessions in 2013 and 2014 include the following:
April 20-21 (Hong Kong), and 27-28 (Shanghai), 2013: Two day courses provided by the ISUP in conjunction with the Hong Kong Division of the International Academy of Pathology.
August 31-September 4, 2013: European Congress of Pathology, Lisbon, Portugal : Joint GU Pathology sessions will be held by the Working Group of the European Society of Pathology and the ISUP.
September 5-8, 2013: Asia Pacific Assembly of the International Academy of Pathology Congress, Busan, Korea : Series of GU Pathology sessions organized by the Asia Pacific IAP and the ISUP.
March 1-8, 2014: ISUP sessions and Annual Meeting at the USCAP Annual Meeting, San Diego, California
