This Privacy Policy governs our websites, which are located at https://www.isupweb.org/ and https://edu.isupweb.org (collectively, the “Website”) and operated by the International Society of Urological Pathology (“ISUP”). When we refer to “you,” or “your” in this Privacy Policy, we mean the individual end user of our Website. References to “our,” “us,” or “we” means ISUP.

ISUP values your privacy and the security of your information on our Website. This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect and how we use your information.

What Information Does ISUP Collect?

ISUP collects (1) personal information; (2) information about your site usage while browsing our Website; (3) information collected by our analytics service provider; and (4) answers provided on the ISUP education pages of the Website.

The personal information we collect includes your name, email address, institution or employer, title, city and country of residence, a secondary email address, membership category, type of practice, and your main field of interest, and where applicable, your years of training (collectively, “Personal Information”). The Personal Information we collect depends upon the types of information you choose to provide us when you contact us by email with an inquiry or when you enroll to become an ISUP member.

When you browse our Website, we collect certain technical and service usage information, including date and time you access the Website, your internet protocol address, browser name, device type, browsing history, any saved preferences concerning our Website, language preference, internet and service provider (collectively, “Browsing Information”) Our Website collects Browsing through server log information, internet cookies and Google Analytics. Both cookies and analytics services are detailed in another section of this Privacy Policy.

Our ISUP education pages on our Website (“Education Site”) are designed to provide web-based tools for testing and training in uropathology. One feature of the Education Site is that you are able to submit answers to multiple choice questions of the diagnosis you feel most appropriate based upon an image displayed from our image database. We collect these answers to provide statistics or a tally of the number of answers received for a given question.

How Does ISUP Use My Information?

ISUP uses the Personal Information you provide to us when you send us an inquiry to respond to your request. When you sign-up to become a member, we use your email address for the purposes of sending you our e-newsletter, reminders about upcoming meetings and invitations for member input. Should you enroll to become an ISUP member, we will use your Personal Information and any payment card information for the purposes of processing your payment card transaction, which is directly necessary to our performance of our contract with you. We also use the Personal Information you provide us when you choose to enroll as a member to: (1) create login credentials for you on our Website; (2) add you to our membership directory; and (3) provide you with access to member services.

Should you choose to register with our Education Site, we use the username ID, password, and email address you provide to us to create your credentials and provide you with access to the Education Site. We use the answers you provide to questions on the Education Site to tally question results and to show you how you performed in comparison to others that have taken the same test.

We use your Browsing Information to troubleshoot, improve, and optimize our Website for the best possible browsing experience. We use Browsing Information to understand the content and site functions that are most popular among our Website visitors, to track your preferences and to ensure that you see the newest content when you log into our Website. Browsing Information is also used for security and fraud prevention purposes, including during sales transactions on our Website.

Does ISUP Share My Information With Third Parties?

ISUP shares certain Personal Information and Browsing Information we collect about you with third parties who perform services for us pursuant to contract, including website and data hosting and development service providers, as part of the services that we provide to you through our Website. Our contracts with our service providers restrict such service providers from using your Personal Information and Browsing Information except as required to render their services to us. We also share information with Google Analytics for purposes of analyzing our Website usage. ISUP does not sell your information to any organization or business.

On rare occasions, we may be required to disclose your Personal Information and/or Browsing Information as required by law and as necessary to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or other legal process served on us.

In the event that ISUP, or substantially all of our assets are sold, or ISUP reorganizes or merges into another organization, then customer information, including Personal Information would be transferred to another organization.

Internet Cookies and Analytics

ISUP utilizes internet cookies and Google Analytics on the Website. Internet cookies are small files that are transferred to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser, which enable us to collect Browsing Information. Google Analytics provides us with information about your online activities over time, which is obtained through automated means. Many internet web browsers include settings that permit you to turn off or reject internet cookies. Policy on Information Belonging to Minor Children

ISUP does not knowingly collect any Personal Information from anyone under the age of 18. Users of Website must be at least 18 years of age. If you are under the age of 18 years old, you should not provide information to us. If a child has provided us with Personal Information, that child’s parent or guardian should contact us (see below) to delete such information from our records.

European Union (“EU”) General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) & Data Rights

For purposes of this section “Personal Information” and “personal data” have the same meaning. The GDPR requires that certain information be provided to data subjects (you) when personal data is collected from a data subject:

  • Contact details for the organization’s personal representative and Data Protection Officer (“DPO”) is info@isupweb.org.

  • Personal data is processed for the purposes detailed in this Privacy Policy. The legal basis for the processing that is set forth herein is your consent, when you choose to contact us with an inquiry, and your personal data is only processed to the extent required to answer your inquiry. When you enroll for a membership, the basis for processing your personal data is by virtue of our contract with you for your membership and your affirmative consent. Your affirmative consent may be withdrawn at any time by contacting us at the address provided in this Privacy Policy.

  • We provide personal data to our third party service providers, pursuant to a contract between those service providers and us, and law enforcement, as detailed in this Privacy Policy.

  • Your personal data is stored until you contact us to request deletion of your information.

  • Where personal data is deemed to be mandatory for you to provide to us, such as in enrolling for an ISUP membership, this information is necessary in order for us to provide our members the benefits and services we provide. If you choose against providing us with this required personal information, you will not be able to enroll for membership.

Individuals located within the EU are afforded certain data rights, which we must disclose to you:

  • You have the right to request access to and rectification of your personal data. You have the right to request erasure of your personal data or for a restriction of processing as it concerns you. You have the right to object to processing and a right to data portability.

  • You have the right to lodge a complaint against us with a supervisory authority.

  • To the extent the processing of your personal data is based upon your consent, as detailed in this Privacy Policy, you have the right to withdraw your consent and exercise your data rights at any time by contacting us at the address provided in this Privacy Policy.

Transfers of Personal Data

To the extent any transfer of personal data is transferred to a third country or international organization, ISUP will conduct such transfers in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the execution of Standard Contractual Clauses as approved by the EU Commission.

ISUP will make periodic changes to this Privacy Policy and will post notice of such changes on the main page of our Website. Please pay particular attention to the “Last Modified” legend at the top of this Privacy Policy to see when the Privacy Policy was last revised. If you are a member of ISUP, we will also notify you by email if there are material changes in our privacy practices or policies if you have consented to receiving communications from us. If you do not agree to the terms of our Privacy Policy, please cease using our Website.
